The Spring Revolution at a Crossroads: EI Talks

The crossroads occurred years ago. NUG's position has always been "I am right, you are wrong, fuck you". It didn't have a clue what it was doing when it was in power before the fighting, and it's only gotten worse. It's taken its philosophy from Western leftists, war hawks who believe that progress comes only at the point of a gun. The Tatmadaw is a sorry bunch too, but they're in power, and know how to stay in power.

Myanmar's neighbors have to live next to whatever emerges from this war. They don't want to see a bunch of warlords forever fighting each other, like in Libya. The Arab Spring saw Tunisia have a hell of a job sorting itself out, but it's coming along. Hillary Clinton stuck her fat ass into Egypt. Rather than put up with the Muslim Brotherhood that she was pushing into power, it was saner just to give the government back to the military. NATO didn't have a clue how to settle Libya when they got involved, and Libyans are still fighting it out from lack of NATO planning.

NUG wants to honor Suu Kyi as their head. She's as clueless a person as could be found. She couldn't unite Myanmar when she was in power. NUG isn't any better. Myanmar's neighbors want one country, and NUG can't provide this. Of course they're going to side with the Tatmadow.
