It was necessary for Trump to take control of the streets of Washington DC. The Deep State would have taken or continued control of them otherwise. (The Deep State still controls the streets of much of America.) Without Trump in charge there, politicians fighting the Deep State would start dropping like flies. Nobody in the press is going to acknowledge this as true, but this is the way the Deep State works. And without this, they'd set a whole army of Luigi assassins against their political opponents.
